How to Grant Access Rights in Umler
This article explains how Company Administrators can grant, modify, or remove access rights in Umler.
Note: This article covers access rights managed through Security Management. It does not include profile-based access. For application permissions, please see How Do I Request Permissions for an Application?
Step 1: Open Security Management
Sign in to Umler as a Company Administrator.
Select the company you manage.
Navigate to
Account Administration → Security Management.
Step 2: Choose the Type of Access You Want to Manage
From Security Management, select one of the following options:

Option A: Manage Intra-Company User Access
Use this to grant access to users within your company or related marks.

Option B: Manage Inter-Company Access Granted by My Company
Use this to allow another company to access your data.

Option C: Manage Inter-Company Access Granted to My Company
Use this to manage access your company receives from another company.
Option A: Grant Access to a User in Your Company
Select the user and click Select.

Choose the type of access to grant:
Pool Access
Equipment Access
Inspection Access

Complete the required fields:
Description
Effective date (today or later)
Expiration date (today or later)
Type of access

Limit access as needed:
All data or specific IDs
Equipment groups, marks, or ranges
Click Save.
Common Actions
Edit an existing access right
Delete an access right
Clone rights from another user to copy permissions
Option B: Grant Access to Another Company
Select the company you want to grant access to.
Click Grant Access Rights.

Choose the access to grant:
Pool, Equipment, or Inspection access
View Confidential Data, if applicable
Click Save.
You may view or revoke access at any time.
Option C: Manage Access Granted to Your Company
Select the access entry.

Choose one of the following actions:
Accept or Decline pending access
Assign to User to give access to someone in your company
Delete access if it is no longer needed
Default Access Behavior
New users can query their own company’s data
Data modification and confidential data require explicit access
All access rights include effective and expiration dates
