Critical Inbound Errors for Car Hire Data Exchange (CHDX)

Critical errors occur when an inbound file is submitted to CHDX with incorrect or missing information. The CHDX system will not accept any submitted files until all critical errors are corrected. 

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I know if the CHDX file I submitted got rejected?
    • The file status of submitted CHDX files can be found by viewing your CHDX profile's inbound history.
      1. Navigate from the CHDX menu > Inbound History. 
      2. By default, the most recent file(s) will be listed first. If a file has been rejected by the system, the Status column will show "Rejected"
    • Alternatively, the Product Support team for Railinc's Asset Utilization products can confirm if the CHDX file has been received. 
  2. How are critical errors identified in CHDX? 
    • Critical errors are identified by critical error codes found towards the bottom of the PDF Summary Reports users can download through the Inbound History.
    • Users can refer to the CHDX Error & Warning Codes Guide available on the Help tab in the CHDX menu to identify what needs to be corrected based on the error code. 
  3. Do I need to correct the non-critical warning(s) on my file for CHDX to accept my submission?
    • No, the system will still accept files with non-critical warning(s) errors. 

Common Critical Error Codes

Below are a short list of common critical errors submitters encounter. Refer to the CHDX Error & Warning Codes Guide available on the Help tab in the CHDX menu to see the full list of errors. 

  1. CTC01B = Uploaded file contains mark(s) submitter is not authorized to submit for. 

    • EDI Example: CTC*RAIL*ABCD*1*10*31*20*25*09*20*25*09*1

      'RAIL' is the submitted Carrier mark that needs to be removed.

  2. CTC06 = Uploaded file contains century that does not equal the allowed date.

    • EDI Example: CTC*RAIL*ABCD*1*10*31*20*25*09*20*25*09*1

      '20' is the listed century that needs to be corrected.

  3. CTC07 = Uploaded file contains year that does not equal the allowed date. 

    • EDI Example: CTC*RAIL*ABCD*1*10*31*20*25*09*20*25*09*1

      '25' is the listed year that need to be corrected.

  4. CTC08 = Uploaded file contains month that does not equal the allowed date. 

    • EDI Example: CTC*RAIL*ABCD*1*10*31*20*25*09*20*25*09*1

      '09' is the listed month that needs to be corrected.
